Union calls for a review on cautions and penalties

Usdaw (Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers) has reiterated the importance of reviewing the use of caution for offences such as shop theft. John Hannett, Usdaw general secretary has backed a call from a retail employers group, the Association of Convenience Stores, and urged the Ministry of Justice to press ahead with its review. The Ministry of Justice will consult on steps to ensure that offenders cannot receive a number of cautions for similar offences such as shop theft.
