Securitas has triumphed in the 2015 RoSPA Awards

Specialist security solutions provider Securitas’ approach to the prevention of accidents and ill-health has been recognised in the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2015 which include the most sought-after accolades by organisations from every sector.

As the UK’s family safety charity, RoSPA’s mission to save lives and reduce injuries covers all ages and stages of life. In support of this mission, the RoSPA Awards – which date back 59 years – are designed to recognise commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill-health prevention in the working environment.

Through the scheme, which is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas, the Judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational Health and Safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, explained: “The RoSPA Awards encourage improvement in occupational Health and Safety management. Organisations such as Securitas who are gaining recognition for their Health and Safety management systems contribute greatly to the overall raising of standards and we congratulate them.”

The majority of RoSPA’s awards are non-competitive, grading achievement at Merit, Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. Organisations maintaining high standards in consecutive years can win Gold medals, President’s Awards and Orders of Distinction.

Commenting on this excellent achievement for the business, Phil Thomas (Securitas’ dedicated EH&S manager) said: “This validates all the hard work undertaken not only by the Health and Safety team in supporting the business, but also throughout the organisation. All levels of Securitas personnel work tirelessly to communicate an increased awareness around Health and Safety, in turn creating a safer working environment for both our employees and customers alike.”

The Gold Medal Award bestowed upon Securitas, which is the ninth for the company in as many years, will be presented to Phil Thomas during a ceremony to be held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel on the National Exhibition Centre complex on Wednesday 15 July 2015.
