Mitie has been awarded ISO 27001 certification: the international standard for Information Security Management. The certification recognises Mitie’s ‘Best in Class’ approach to managing sensitive information and keeping it secure.

The certification has been awarded to Mitie’s 24Seven Service Centre and Miworld, the company’s dedicated management information platform and tool designed for an innovative approach developed around gathering and interpreting client data.

Miworld helps Mitie collect, analyse and better understand client data to help drive smarter, more strategic decisions across their estates.

Currently used on Mitie’s largest integrated FM accounts, Miworld provides a minute-by-minute activity report for both the Mitie delivery team and the end user customer.

Phil Holland, managing director of Mitie’s Integrated Facilities Management business, commented: “We’re thrilled to have gained the ISO 27001 certification which demonstrates our commitment to, and compliance with Best Practice techniques. Security is paramount to the way in which we operate as a company, and we fully understand how it can impact a business’ operation.”

Holland added: “Through Miworld, we manage huge amounts of data focused on issues such as reactive maintenance issues and meeting room occupancy. This certification reassures our clients that their data is in safe hands.”

Employee screening and vetting services

Last month, Mitie attained the same accreditation for its employee screening and vetting services in recognition of the company’s Best Practice methods for keeping information assets secure.

In this instance, the ISO 27001 certification covers Mitie’s employee screening and vetting services encompassing screening for both internal staff and those of external customers.

The service is based at MiTec, Mite’s technology hub located in Northern Ireland.

This affords our clients absolute confidence that we’ve fully addressed all potential security risks, further establishing Mitie as a trustworthy screening and vetting partner.”

In conclusion, Gamage told Risk UK: “We’re wholly committed to protecting our own and our clients’ reputations by demonstrating the upmost compliance procedures and a responsible culture.”

Mitie extends FM contract with Standard Life

Mitie has also announced the extension of its FM contract with Standard Life, the savings and investment company.

The renewed contract, which follows on from a competitive tender process, will see Mitie’s Environmental + team of over 80 staff delivering services across the Standard Life headquarters and properties in Edinburgh.

Speaking about the news, Ruby McGregor-Smith CBE – Mitie’s CEO – said: “We have built a successful partnership with Standard Life over the past eight years, and we’re now delighted to have the opportunity to develop this further while also bringing new initiatives to the contract.”

Laraine McBean, director of Mitie’s Environmental + operation in Scotland, commented: “This contract renewal is testament to the skills and capabilities of our local team who are committed to providing a world class service for Standard Life.”
