Facilities management business Mitie has extended its successful working relationship with Sky – one of Europe’s leading entertainment companies – for an additional five years.

The expanded, multi-million pound contract will see Mitie continuing to provide integrated facilities management solutions across Sky’s entire estate in the UK and Ireland.

Services being delivered include security, mechanical and electrical maintenance, Front of House, cleaning, Helpdesk, switchboard, Post Room management, waste management, landscaping and Health and Safety.

Phil Holland, managing director of Mitie’s Integrated Facilities Management business, told Risk UK: “We’re delighted to build on the long-standing working relationship we’ve enjoyed with Sky over the past three years. Being a trusted and innovative partner to Sky has helped us create a truly collaborative partnership. Now, we very much look forward to continuing to create exceptional business environments for Sky’s employees, clients and guests.”

Nick Green, director of the Property Service Group at Sky, added: “As our new campus takes shape in Osterley, and we continue to invest in our sites around the UK in order to create the very best working environment for our people, we’re delighted to extend our partnership with Mitie.”

Mitie has been delivering integrated facilities management to Sky in the UK and Ireland since 2012. The new agreement extends this partnership through to January 2023.

Diversity Week comes to Mitie

This week, Mitie Group plc is actively celebrating Diversity Week. Over the course of the week from 21-25 September, the blue chip solutions company will be hosting a series of events, Workshops, online training and inspirational Keynote speeches across the UK and Ireland specifically designed to raise awareness and understanding around diversity issues and inclusion at work.

Karen Govier, group diversity and inclusion manager, explained Mitie’s ongoing commitment to diversity to Risk UK. “At Mitie, we’re passionate about building a diverse and inclusive business,” said Govier. “We’re focused on supporting and developing all of our people, irrespective of gender, age, race, faith, sexual orientation, disability or culture. This week is a chance to further raise awareness and understanding of what makes each person in Mitie unique and to celebrate the differences that make our business so successful and a really great place to work.”

Highlights of Diversity Week 2015 include:

*The launch of Mitie’s BAME (Black Asian and Minority Ethnic) network. Key speakers include Sandra Kerr OBE, the race and equality director at Business in the Community (BITC), who’ll be giving the audience an exclusive preview of the BITC Race at Work survey results

*A quiz hosted at Channel 4 which is designed to test competitors’ knowledge on culture, disability and equality

*Proud to be – Mitie’s LGBTQ+ employee network – is discussing what businesses can learn about diversity from the sporting arena and hearing from several inspiring speakers from the world of sport

*Mitie’s finance director, Suzanne Baxter, reflects on her remarkable journey and how we should do more to encourage young women who are considering entering the profession

*MiHomecare (Mitie’s home care business) will be hosting a number of diversity days open to all Mitie people, customers and external stakeholders in a bid to celebrate different cultures, tastes and ideas

*Mindwise, the mental health charity, is holding a workshop at Mitec, Mitie’s intelligent security hub in Northern Ireland. Discussions are due to focus on the development of good mental health practices in the workplace

*Mitie’s charitable partner, Remploy (the provider of specialist employment services to disabled and disadvantaged people who can experience complex barriers to work) will be hosting a series of open days across the country promoting disability issues in the workplace. There will also be a chance to hear from Mitie employees who have secured employment at the company thanks to Remploy
