In an effort to continue its expansion into various international markets, the International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO) has appointed Mike Hurst CPP to serve as the organisation’s representative in the UK. After several discussions with Hurst, the IFPO’s executive director Sandi Davies feels confident that he embraces the same goals and objectives as that of the Foundation.

The IFPO is committed to the support and professional development of protection officers. Through advocacy, promoting training standards and providing accessible training, education and certification opportunities, the American organisation seeks to enhance the professional standing of protection officers as well as increase and diversify the value of the vital services they provide.

Mike Hurst has spent over three decades operating in the security and fire professions as a specialist recruitment consultant and strategic advisor with HJA Consult (formerly HJA Fire and Security) and is also co-founder of www.AllSecurityEvents.com (the security events listing site).

Hurst is vice-chairman of the UK Chapter of ASIS International, the world’s largest association of security professionals. He has held this role for nine years and serves on the Professional Development Council and European Advisory Council. Hirst was also a director of The Security Institute, standing down in 2017 having served the maximum six-year term of office. In 2016, Hurst was awarded the ASIS International President’s Award of Merit for his services to security in the UK and Europe.

Hurst is a regular contributor to security media and has spoken at numerous conferences on the international stage. He’s also currently a Member of the BSI GW/3 Committee (Private Security Management and Services).

Speaking about the appointment, Sandi Davies IFPO stated: “Mike has an amazing network of security professionals as well as incredible energy and drive. We’re fortunate that he has taken on this new challenge. On behalf of the entire IFPO team we would like to welcome Mike and will wholeheartedly support his efforts.”
