Together with these partners, we’ll show how open platform video systems can benefit customers.”

“Open standards ensure that customers access new technologies much faster” states ASSA Abloy

Exhibiting alongside many of its integration and OEM partners, ASSA Abloy will use this year’s IFSEC International to explain why open communication platforms are the way to win business and keep end user customers happy in the longer term.

As a Forbes top 100 innovative company, ASSA Abloy recognises the need to nurture technological development that is deliverable and accessible. That’s why the company is a strong advocate for open communication platforms, including the Standard Offline Access Application (SOAA) for offline wireless locks.

Across Europe, approximately 70% of the OEM market has integrated one or more of ASSA Abloy’s product lines. On a global level, over 100 leading access control OEMs have integrated an ASSA Abloy solution. In part, this is because of the company’s flexible approach to communication platforms.

“The myth that electromechanical locking and access control solutions are complicated and expensive often arises because end users and OEMs are unaware of the flexibility provided by open communications systems,” asserted Chris Bone, vice-president of access control solutions at ASSA Abloy for the EMEA region.

Unlike proprietary software, open platforms allow customers with existing access control or security systems to extend and upgrade without the need for a complete replacement. This ‘plug and play’ approach is more cost-effective, and also easier to install and manage.

Open standards allow new products to integrate seamlessly with existing systems, including CCTV and key management solutions. Standards allow access and security throughout a building to adapt with the building’s growth and changing user needs.

“As the Internet of Things continues to gather pace, we see security as an integral part of that trend,” explained Bone. “One of the biggest threats to the security industry is not the failure to recognise this, but rather the inability to provide products that allow everyone access to the best new technology.”

Access Control, a division of ASSA Abloy UK, will be launching the Aperio V3 platform designed to improve the reaction time of its wireless locks.

The Aperio V3 platform has powerful electronics that enable remote unlocking commands to pass from access control systems to doors and locks almost instantly, providing users with an effective remote opening function.

The system is designed to upgrade processing power and memory space and offers improved RFID performance when compared to the V2 platform.

Damian Marsh, managing director at Access Control, said: “ASSA Abloy’s new generation of battery-powered locks guarantee faster response times, so users waste less time hanging around at doors. The Aperio V3 platform is also energy efficient. Frequently used entrance systems with wireless locks running on the platform can operate for two years on a standard battery.”

The V3 platform supports multi-class high frequency RFID reading in one device and is also compatible with ASSA Abloy’s Seos mobile access ecosystem for issuing, delivering and revoking digital keys on smart phones.

Alongside the Integration Zone, products from ASSA Abloy, Abloy, Mul-T-Lock, Traka and Yale will be on display during IFSEC International 2015. Visit Stand D1700 in Hall S17 at ExCeL.
