G4S wins Communicate award for taking Annual Report “to the next level”

For the second time, G4S has been awarded the highest accolade in the ‘Best Online Report’ category at the Corporate and Financial Awards hosted by Communicate Magazine for the G4S Integrated Report 2018, which presents the group’s financial and strategic performance for the year. The Corporate and Financial Awards recognise companies that set the benchmark for corporate communications.

For companies like G4S, trying to reach investors, sustainability analysts, financial journalists and their peers, corporate reporting is a primary means of communication. The Corporate and Financial Awards recognise excellence in this area and in all aspects of corporate communications with these stakeholder groups.

Having won Gold at the same ceremony last year, G4S once again took the highest accolade in the ‘Best Online Report’ category for its 2018 Integrated Report. This year, the integration of G4S’ sustainability commitment and performance, including the mapping of Case Studies to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, was a key focus for the report, reflecting the growing interest from investors.

Shortlisted organisations in this category were judged on taking a printed report ‘to the next level, using advanced technology to successfully communicate content to its audience.’ Entries also needed to demonstrate ‘how the report has developed since its previous incarnation’, making winning for a second time in a row even more of a triumph.

Charlotte Borthwick, digital communications manager at G4S, observed: “Every year, the Integrated Report requires a huge team effort at G4S involving finance, investor relations, Corporate Social Responsibility, corporate communications, legal and more, so it’s fantastic for these efforts to be recognised once again at the awards.”

FTSE4Good Index Series

G4S has also been independently assessed and included as a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series in 2019 for the third year running. This inclusion recognises G4S’ strong commitment to social responsibility and sustainable business practices right across the organisation.

The FTSE4Good index series is a leading socially responsible investment indicator developed by FTSE Russell, itself an integral part of the London Stock Exchange Group. It’s designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong environmental, social and governance practices.

Nigel Lockwood, G4S’ head of CSR and Government affairs, said: “We take an holistic approach to social responsibility and are mindful of our societal impact. Our continuing commitment to conducting our business in a way that’s ethically responsible, safe and consistent with the company’s values and standards is core to the sustainable success of G4S. Our employees deliver services around the world which contribute to the creation of a safer society in which millions of people live and work. We’re proud of the role they play in society and of the positive contribution which G4S makes to advance standards and help to deliver on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in particular, the SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).”
