Tom Brookes, the managing director of Lindum Fire Services, has been appointed vice-chairman of the Fire & Security Association (FSA). Brookes will now work with Pat Allen, the FSA’s chairman, and Steve Martin (head of the FSA) to help shape the Association’s policy and strategy on behalf of its members.

Brookes takes up the position after a 25-year career in the fire industry that has seen him serve as a technical advisor to the British Fire Consortium, the Fire Industry Association and the British Standards Institution as well as playing an active role in the development of City & Guilds’ 1853-03 NVQ Level 3 qualification.

“Tom’s extensive industry experience and technical expertise will be of huge benefit to the FSA, our members and the industry we support,” explained Steve Martin. “This is a crucial time for the fire and security industries, and Pat and I look forward to working with Tom to ensure the FSA continues to offer its members the support they need to grow their businesses.”

Speaking about this news, Tom Brookes told Risk UK: “The FSA has been a tremendous source of support and advice to me and countless other businesses during a challenging time for the industry. I’m looking forward to working with Pat and Steve to help them expand and evolve its offering, and to continue to ensure that members are in the best place possible to make the most of the upturn in the economy and the industry’s fortunes.”
