FIM Expo 2019 features UK’s leading fire detection and alarm manufacturers

The next edition of the Fire Industry Manufacturers’ (FIM) Expo takes place at Bramall Lane in South Yorkshire, home of newly-promoted Premier League club Sheffield United FC, on Wednesday 16 October from 8.30 am until 2.30 pm. Organised as always by the Fire Industry Association (FIA), FIM Expo features many of the UK’s leading fire detection and alarm system manufacturers and focuses on showcasing the latest products and developments in this particular sector of the industry.

FIM Expo is for anyone working in this area, whether as an installer or a maintainer of fire detection and alarm systems, a manager of such systems in commercial premises or as an architect or individual specifying what type of fire protection systems should be installed in a given building.

What makes the FIM Expo different to many other trade exhibitions is the informal format, keen regional focus and delegates’ ability to view the latest solutions from all of the major fire detection manufacturers in one place.

In addition, the FIA will be hosting two free Continuing Professional Development (CPD)-accredited seminars at the Expo. Both sessions will focus on key topics. They are as follows:

*10.00 am-10.45 am: ‘Overview of the Changes to BS 5839-6:2019’ (Presenter: Will Lloyd, FIA technical manager)

*1.00 pm-1.45 pm: ‘Raising The Bar – Competence for Building a Safer Future’ (Presenter: Ian Moore, FIA CEO)

The FIA will have a stand at the event such that interested parties can meet with membership manager Chris Tilley and discuss the benefits of FIA membership (which include discounts on fire protection training and qualifications and the possibility of a stand at future FIM Expo events).

Tilley commented: “Competency and how you prove it is at the very forefront of everyone’s mind right now, and if it’s not then it should be. At next month’s FIM Expo, the FIA has invited BAFE and leading certification bodies to offer a one-stop shop solution. Visit the Expo and benefit from expert industry advice on how best to achieve competency for your company and engineers.”

With an average of 25 exhibitors over the last few years, FIM Expo has grown to become the best local Expo for the fire industry. Confirmed exhibitors this time around include Advanced, Ampac, Apollo, Baldwin Boxall, C-Tec, Eaton, Eurotech, Everlux, FFE, FirePro, Global Fire Equipment, Haes Systems, Hochiki, Kentec, Lan Control Systems, Morley-IAS, Nittan, Sterling Safety Systems, Vimpex, Xtralis, the Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board and, as stated, BAFE.

Attendance at the FIM Expo is free. Parking and refreshments (including a buffet) are also available free of charge.
