Fareed Zakaria and Scott Klososky to kick-off ASIS International’s GSX Keynote Line-Up

ASIS International has announced that ‘global thinker’, columnist and CNN host Fareed Zakaria in tandem with futurist and technology visionary Scott Klososky will be the opening Keynote Speakers for the 2018 Global Security Exchange. Formerly known as the ASIS Annual Seminar and Exhibits, GSX is expected to attract more than 20,000 operational and cyber security professionals to the Las Vegas Convention Center from September 23-27 for what’s being badged by ASIS International as “the world’s most comprehensive security event”.

“Between Fareed and Scott, attendees will receive a rounded, nuanced and incisive overview of the trends – social, political, business and technological – that are informing the transformation of security and how professionals will have to adapt to thrive in the years ahead,” said Peter O’Neil CAE, CEO of ASIS International. “These presentations will lay the groundwork for a forward-looking Enterprise Security Risk Management-style approach to risk that sets up security to be a critical business partner.”

Host of CNN’s Peabody Award-winning ‘Fareed Zakaria GPS’, Zakaria is the former Editor-at-Large of TIME magazine, a three-time bestselling author and one of Foreign Policy magazine’s ‘Top 100 Global Thinkers’.

At GSX, Zakaria will open conference with an examination of important forces, developments and risks affecting the global community. His remarks will address cyber threats – for instance espionage, ransomware and spear phishing – which know no boundaries. Zakaria will focus on the once-local crime syndicates that have now metastasised over whole regions and continents. Global expansion and outsourcing, which means managing international teams and varying cultures, will also be highlighted. With an emphasis on international intelligence and security, Zakaria will explore what it means to live in a truly global era.

Digital transformation and security management

For his part, Scott Klososky returns as the GSX Keynote Speaker for the Tuesday of the event following his popular 2017 presentation that ran under the banner ‘The Technology Integration of Man’. Building on his continued involvement with CSOs and ASIS stakeholders across the past 12 months and more, Klososky will address the impact of today’s rapid digital transformation on security management and leadership. He’ll build a compelling case for managing and using technology – and knowing when not to use it – in order to gain a competitive advantage and lead successfully into the future.

“We’re excited for these well-respected thought leaders to share their vital insights and set the stage for the conference education that follows,” enthused Richard Chase CPP PCI PSP, president of ASIS International in 2018. “These Keynotes reflect our commitment to bring diverse and forward-thinking speakers to our GSX event in order to address vital issues impacting businesses and communities worldwide.”

*The Keynote Speakers for Wednesday and Thursday morning will be revealed in the coming weeks. Attendees can register for GSX 2018 by visiting www.GSX.org/register
