IFSEC International and Euralarm have announced an exclusive partnership arrangement that will include a new half-day conference scheduled to take place at London’s ExCeL on 17 June 2015. The ‘Smart Cities: Safer and Secure’ Conference will explore how those individuals directly responsible for protecting key assets can obtain the solutions they need in order to ensure smart cities remain safe and secure.

Featuring key speakers from leading sectors such as manufacturing, systems integration and civic authorities, the conference will probe how the rapid global advance of smart cities coupled with the increased use of integrated platforms creates a greater need for safer and secure environments.

‘Smart Cities: Safer and Secure’ brings together a range of experts from Europe who will impart their unique insights as to how the concept of smart cities is presently being underpinned by large-scale and sophisticated networked technologies.

This strategic half-day event is aimed at professionals in the Emergency Services, national and local Government along with those working on Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) projects and offers an excellent and timely opportunity for the further exploration of how to increase urban safety and security across Europe and beyond.

In addition to the conference, IFSEC International will also host an interactive webinar on the same theme in the run-up to the event. Taking place in April, the ‘Smart Cities: Safer and Secure’ webinar will explore similar topics with a host of Case Studies showcasing successful adoptions of integrated and networked security and fire systems.

The webinar will be open to participants from across the globe and freely available via:

Setting standards across the fire and security sectors

Euralarm is at the forefront of setting standards within the electronic fire and security industry across Europe.

Commenting on this new partnership, Martin Harvey (head of regulatory affairs in the EMEA for Tyco/ADT and Euralarm) told Risk UK: “IFSEC International 2015 will provide Euralarm with a formidable opportunity to present a cohesive narrative on how today’s smart cities are being made safer. Product developments and networked solutions have become critical aspects of smart city concepts, and Euralarm is pleased to be able to impart its expertise and guidance based on a range of experiences. Anyone with a strategic interest in the protection of key assets and infrastructures is invited to participate in both the conference programme and the webinar.”

Gerry Dunphy, event director for IFSEC International, added: “We’re really excited to expand our partnership with Euralarm this year. IFSEC International, FIREX International and are fantastic platforms for engageent with our shared global audiences on what is such a key topic. The development of Safe Cities is a major addition to IFSEC’s strategic offer this year.”

Dunphy also said: “A leading conference such as ‘Smart Cities: Safer and Secure’ is a statement of the direction in which IFSEC is now heading. The webinar will be an excellent introduction to what’s available at ExCeL this summer, and helps to form a fully joined-up offer for the dedicated Safe Cities audience.”

IFSEC International announces expansion plans

UBM’s IFSEC Global Security and Fire Portfolio is pleased to announce expansion plans that will continue to grow IFSEC International, which this year runs from 16-18 June at London’s ExCeL.

Peter Poole has been appointed sales director and will now be responsible for all commercial activity across the portfolio while at the same time leading the sales team and a network of global agents.

Previously event manager on IFSEC International, Poole will also take on responsibility for FIREX International (the co-located show that he developed nearly ten years ago on joining UBM).

To support the growth of IFSEC International, Tristan Norman has been appointed head of business development for security and fire in a move designed to further expand opportunities around demonstrating the latest technologies in both sectors to a global audience.

Commenting on these appointments, Gerry Dunphy explained: “This is an exciting time for the IFSEC International team as we expand and ensure that we continue to showcase all future technologies and, as a result, set the agenda for the security and fire industries. We’re looking forward to this next chapter of growth and development.”
