The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has appointed John MacAskill as the Trade Association’s new director of manpower and export. MacAskill has been promoted from his previous role at the BSIA and will now oversee the manpower sections of the Association, as well as being responsible for working with the Export Council and its external partners in promoting British security expertise overseas.

MacAskill’s duties will include raising the profile of security in both sectors and developing new relationships and opportunities for the BSIA Sections’ respective members.

MacAskill has over 25 years’ experience in the industry, having worked in business development for Pointer Ltd and Connelly Security Systems (both of whom are BSIA member companies). He joined the Trade Association back in 2016 as Scottish regional representative, moving to the role of senior business executive before overseeing membership, guarding and export.

MacAskill is also a member of the Institute of Leadership and Management.

Mike Reddington, CEO at the BSIA, commented: “I’m delighted that John MacAskill has accepted the position of director of manpower and export at the BSIA. As the voice of the professional security industry, we’re committed to developing the Association and the services we provide to our members. This is reflected in this appointment which further strengthens our leadership team. John’s extensive knowledge of both sectors and his experience of working within the industry makes him an ideal candidate for this role.”
