ASSA ABLOY buys emergency exit solutions specialist Exidor Ltd from Chamberlin plc

ASSA ABLOY has acquired Exidor Ltd from Chamberlin plc. Exidor is a long-established manufacturer of panic and emergency exit hardware in the UK. Given the strong commercial synergies between Exidor and ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions UK, and in particular with the latter’s Door Hardware Group in the UK, the acquisition will create opportunities for both businesses to add greater value for customers by offering a broader and more innovative product range.

Exidor Ltd will continue to operate as an autonomous business as part of the Door Hardware Group, retaining its existing strong management and commercial teams who’ve been responsible for developing the company’s excellent reputation in the market. Existing customer contact points also remain unchanged.

“Exidor Ltd is an exciting addition to our UK business and I’m delighted to welcome the company’s team into ASSA ABLOY,” enthused Harry Warrender, market region manager for ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions in the UK and Ireland. “The business offers an extensive high quality range of panic and emergency exit hardware with a strong track record of innovation. Its portfolio will extend the ASSA ABLOY offer into the UK commercial market.”

Exidor Ltd was established in 1931. Its headquarters is in Cannock in the West Midlands. The business employs 70 members of staff. 2018 sales are expected to reach a total of around £8 million.
