ASIS International awards inaugural Associate Protection Professional certifications

ASIS International has detailed the inaugural group of 150-plus individuals to hold its new Associate Protection Professional (APP) certification after successfully passing the beta examination.

ASIS certifications have long been recognised as the mark of excellence in security management. The APP joins ASIS International’s three other global certifications, namely the Certified Protection Professional (CPP), the Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) and the Physical Security Professional (PSP).

Developed to meet the needs of new and transitioning security professionals entering the field, the APP serves as the first rung on a security manager’s career leader. Earning the APP demonstrates that an individual possesses a solid understanding of the myriad knowledge and skills required in the discipline of security management including security management fundamentals, business operations, risk management and response management.

“I would like to congratulate the first batch of APP certificants,” enthused William Moisant CPP PSP, president of the ASIS Professional Certification Board (PCB). “Developing the APP was a huge undertaking and the PCB is truly grateful for the commitment of everyone involved. I look forward to the APP joining the CPP, the PCI and the PSP certifications as the security industry’s stamp of professionalism across the globe.”

The APP is designed for those with one-to-four years of security management experience, including those who transition into security careers from the military and law enforcement. Applications are now being accepted.
