Fire detection systems manufacturer Apollo Fire Detectors has announced the appointment of Charles Lombard as the company’s new managing director with regional responsibility for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Having built a career while working in many European countries, Lombard has led global businesses of increasing size and complexity based in Italy, Australia, Denmark and France.

Born and raised in France, Lombard holds a degree from the Grenoble School of Business and a Masters in Social Sciences from the University of Birmingham. He’s fluent in French, English and Italian.

In his last role with ITW, Lombard served as vice-president of a group of businesses.

Speaking about his new role, Lombard enthused: “I’m looking forward to joining the Apollo team and working for a truly global company and leader in its field. Apollo can look back on a rich heritage and tradition. I’m now planning to work with the team to continue building on these foundations and develop the next generations of innovative fire detection technology.”

Apollo Fire Detectors has specialised in the design and manufacture of high quality fire detection products since 1980. In the intervening period, the company has broadened its capability from a straightforward focus on conventional fire detectors to include the manufacture of sophisticated analogue addressable detectors and interfaces for monitoring and controlling equipment in fire protection systems.

Apollo applies the most modern production techniques and has invested in sophisticated manufacturing equipment to ensure consistently high quality products and fast response to customer requirements.

The business now boasts over 3,000 international approvals, regional offices in the UK, America, China, India and Germany and direct trade into more than 100 countries.

Apollo is part of the HALMA Group of companies. HALMA is a FTSE Top 250-listed plc with over 40 subsidiaries worldwide, all of them engaged in specialist engineering activities.
