Securitas wins prestigious President’s Award at RoSPA Awards 2016

Securitas has achieved the coveted President’s Award for ten consecutive Gold Awards as part of the 2016 Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards.

Now in their 60th year, the RoSPA Awards are highly regarded and sought-after accolades bestowed upon businesses and organisations which have shown commitment to accident and ill-health prevention in the workplace.

Through the scheme, which is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas, the members of the Judging Panel consider entrants’ overarching occupational Health and Safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events, informed Risk UK: “To win at such a highly-regarded event as the RoSPA Awards is a great achievement for all. It recognises a commitment to maintaining an excellent Health and Safety record and raises the bar for other organisations. We offer the winners our congratulations.”

Small continued: “This year is doubly special for our winners as their achievements have been recognised as the RoSPA Awards celebrates its diamond anniversary, which is a ringing endorsement of the thousands of businesses and organisations that have committed to continuous improvement in accident and ill-health prevention.”

Creating a safer working environment

Phil Thomas, environmental Health and Safety manager at Securitas, added: “Through our association with RoSPA over the years, both in terms of the annual awards scheme and our charitable support for its LifeForce programme, it’s with a certain amount of pride that we have, once again, achieved this prestigious award. It recognises the hard work undertaken by all personnel within the organisation to promote safety in the workplace, and embodies Securitas’ aim of creating a safer working environment for both our employees and customers alike.”

The majority of the RoSPA’s awards are non-competitive and mark achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels. Gold medals, President’s Awards and Orders of Distinction are presented to organisations sustaining the high standards of the gold level over consecutive years.

Securitas will be presented with its latest award from RoSPA during a ceremony to be held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel on Thursday 14 July.
