Alan Clamp, CEO at the Security Industry Authority, is to step down from the organisation in the Autumn after more than three successful years at the helm. Clamp will then take on the role of CEO at the Professional Standards Authority from Thursday 1 November 2018.
Commenting on his decision to leave the Regulator for the private security industry, Clamp explained: “It has been a great privilege to lead the SIA. I have been supported by a staff team who have consistently performed to a very high standard with dedication and professionalism. I would like to thank them for this. Their commitment, together with the engagement and support of the private security industry itself, has enabled us to achieve our objectives and rise to the challenges and opportunities we’ve faced over the last three years.”
Clamp continued: “I’m very proud of what the SIA has achieved and am fully confident that the great team of staff we have in place will continue to deliver on our core objectives of raising standards and protecting the public as well as delivering high quality regulation.”
Clamp joined the SIA back in June 2015. He has since overseen the introduction of the SIA’s online licensing system, work designed to strengthen and review the Regulator’s voluntary Approved Contractor Scheme, championed an increased engagement with the industry and put in place robust governance and assurance processes to ensure the smooth running of the organisation.
Elizabeth France, chair of the SIA, said: “It has been a pleasure working with Alan as CEO of the SIA. On behalf of the Authority, the senior executive team and staff, I thank him for his commitment to the work of the SIA. We shall miss Alan’s calm and incisive leadership, but we’re confident that the solid foundations he has laid will serve us well in the future. We wish him well in his new role. Our task now is to begin a recruitment process to identify a successor in time to ensure continuity and progress across all areas of the SIA’s work.”
*Details of the recruitment process will be available on the SIA’s website
