Securitas recognised with RoSPA President’s 2018 Award for Health and Safety management

Securitas UK has retained the prestigious RoSPA President’s Award in recognition of the company’s practices and achievements in helping employees and clients to get home safely at the end of each working day.

The internationally-renowned RoSPA Health and Safety Awards is the longest-running industry awards scheme in the UK. Securitas will be presented with its award during a ceremony to be held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel on Thursday 5 July.

The RoSPA Awards scheme, which receives entries from organisations around the world, recognises achievement in Health and Safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

Phil Thomas, EH&S manager at Securitas UK, commented: “In entering annually for this prestigious award, it becomes no easier to attain and, in some respects, we do have to challenge ourselves all the more to do so. Looking back over the previous year, I’m proud of all that Securitas has achieved, but there are always more ways in which to further improve upon safety. Gaining this award demonstrates that we are firmly committed to the pursuit of a fundamental aim of the organisation and that is to ensure the safety, health and welfare of all those members of staff working with Securitas.”

Excellence in the workplace

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of qualifications, awards and events, added: “The RoSPA Awards are the most highly-respected in the Health and Safety arena, with almost 2,000 entrants every year. They allow organisations to prove excellence in the workplace and actively demonstrate a commitment to the well-being of not only employees, but all those who interact with them.”

The majority of awards are non-competitive and mark achievement at Merit, Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. Gold medals, President’s Awards, Orders of Distinction and the Patron’s Award are presented to organisations sustaining the high standards of the Gold level over consecutive years.

Headline sponsor of the RoSPA Awards 2018 is the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH). The organisation is serving as headline sponsor for the 13th consecutive year.
