Supported by IFSEC International’s organiser UBM, Pro-Activ Publications has announced the detail behind an all-new event designed for security installers and system integrators. SiX will run in November 2019 at EventCity in Manchester.
Security installers and system integrators are currently experiencing changes in the market, with the shift from hardware to software-based solutions as well as the impact of Internet of Things technologies. While Pro-Activ Publications titles Professional Security Installer (PSI) and Benchmark magazines address the need for installer and integrator-focused information, there has been no UK trade show addressing this sector. Until now, that is.
SiX will be an event aimed squarely at installers and integrators. Running on 5-6 November next year, SiX will offer a conference programme* delivered by subject experts rather than manufacturers or Government bodies and a parellel exhibition. In addition, the annual PSI Premier Awards Dinner will be held on the evening of 5 November.
Requirements of the trade
“After talking to installers and distributors, we realised that the industry needed an event focused solely on the requirements of the trade rather than a catch-all show that includes an element of security as one of its points of focus,” explained Andy Clutton, Editor of Risk Xtra’s sister title PSI. “While PSI and Benchmark make installers aware of the innovations and developments in the sector, there’s no event that specifically targets their needs. Furthermore, the industry requires a trade show in the North of England such that the installers, most of whom are self-employed, can cut down on travel time and make their visit cost-effective.”
With free parking on site, world-class leisure and shopping facilities and over 1,000 on-site hotel rooms at TraffordCity, EventCity in Manchester offers a complete package for the SiX experience. For the show itself, EventCity boasts the largest conference venue in Manchester, not to mention a choice of halls.
“For installers and integrators, the evolving technological landscape presents significant opportunities for growth through the delivery of bespoke solutions,” added Pete Conway, Editor of Benchmark. “However, as well as offering added value, there are also many challenges which must be addressed. Events such as SiX offer a valuable vehicle to help installers and integrators learn more about the potential of new technologies and ensure that they’re updated with relevant Best Practice to ensure systems remain reliable and effective.”
Highly-targeted regional event
As stated, SiX already enjoys the support of the UK’s largest security event, IFSEC International. Simon Parker, managing director of UBM EMEA (UK), stated: “IFSEC International is delighted to support and partner Pro-Activ Publications in the exciting launch of the SiX event in Manchester. We’ve been listening to our customers in the North and Midlands for a number of years now and fully understand the need for a highly-targeted regional event which provides support and guidance for security professionals.’’
Parker continued: “IFSEC International and Pro-Activ Publications have enjoyed a rewarding and long-standing partnership. This new strategic alliance will play to the strengths of both brands. Pro-Activ Publications has a formidable reach and a proven reputation within the installer market, while IFSEC International is a prominent 44 year-old brand which has provided the global security sector with an unparalleled opportunity to bring buyers and sellers together. Pro-Activ Publications’ media assets, including PSI, Benchmark, Risk Xtra and The Paper, will provide powerful platforms to communicate and support this new event. Coupled with IFSEC’s exclusive relationships with leading associations such as the British Security Industry Association, the overall proposition for this event is hugely exciting.’’
