CIT facility endorsement

Traka
Cash management company RMS has become the recipient of the Secured by Design accreditation, endorsed by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO). The accreditation was achieved by RMS for its new cash-in-transit facility, designed with the help of the PSNI (Police Service of Northern Ireland) and using access management systems from Traka.

The Secured by Design accreditation is founded on the principle of 'designing out' crime by using effective prevention and security standards. The accreditation focuses on crime prevention from the initial design, layout and construction stages of homes and commercial premises, promoting the use of security standards for a range of applications and products.

The RMS cash centre makes use of two of Traka's key management control applications: firstly, the 'Cash-in-Transit' solution ensures that the ignition key of any cash-carrying vehicle is secured (whilst out on its rounds) prior to a vault key being released. Secondly, Traka's 'Round Control' solution identifies and releases keys, ensuring that all required keys are taken in the correct order to access or complete a series of calls on a specified route.

Assistant Chief Constable Duncan McCausland said: "This award demonstrates both the enthusiasm of the PSNI and our partners for adopting the principles and working together to try and ensure the risk of crime in new buildings is minimised."
