Evac+Chair set to lead workplace diversity discussions at 2017 Health & Safety Event

Evac+Chair International is set to host informative breakfast briefings at this year’s Health & Safety Event, which runs at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre from 21-23 March. Specifically, the briefings will address crucial Health and Safety topics such as the diverse workforce and how it’s affecting the workplace.

Gary Hicks, manager of Evac+Chair International’s DMCC branch in the UAE, commented: “Social awareness of issues such as physical impairments and older people in the workforce are bringing greater diversity into the modern working environment. Accessibility is something that every organisation must consider, and that brings with it specific implications for those responsible for Health and Safety practices within a given building. We’ll be exploring the changing workforce and issues of ensuring safety for everyone in the workplace in the event of a building’s evacuation.”

Johnson Herrick of the West Midlands Fire Service will also host a seminar on evacuating members of the public from a building, while fire safety consultant Phil Donovan is set to hold a discussion focused on creating the ideal fire risk assessment for a given workplace.

Gerard Wallace, managing director of Evac+Chair International, explained to Risk UK: “Everyone attending the Health & Safety Event is there to raise Health and Safety standards, both individually and collectively as a sector. The event’s a great platform for us to be in front of Health and Safety decision-makers.”
