BSIA to recognise “outstanding work” of UK’s security personnel at Annual Awards

The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has announced the 2018 regional winners of the Trade Association’s ever-popular Security Personnel Awards. Each year, the BSIA holds awards both regionally and nationally to celebrate some of the truly outstanding personnel within the industry who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in their everyday work. The 2018 regional winners will now go forward as national finalists. The winners will be presented at the British Security Awards, to be held on Wednesday 11 July at the Marriot Hotel in London’s Grosvenor Square.

For the past 20 years the awards, sponsored by Camberford Law plc, have served to recognise the talent, dedication, skill and bravery exhibited by security personnel in their roles. Each year, the BSIA is inundated with fantastic nominations about security officers who have saved lives and been instrumental in police investigations. The nominations demonstrate the commitment of security personnel to their role.

In 2018, the Security Personnel Awards’ regional winners have been responsible for some truly outstanding acts of bravery, delivered first class customer service and shown the benefits of teamwork. The regional winners from across the UK represent a broad spectrum of BSIA members and their clients.

James Kelly, CEO of the BSIA, said: “It’s important that we recognise the true value of security personnel. They’re often the first responders in times of emergency and play a vital role in keeping the public safe. This year’s Security Personnel Awards regional winners are testament to the truly high calibre of personnel we have working within our industry. We received a high number of fantastic nominations this year, making the judging process a tough one. This year’s winners should be extremely proud of their achievements and we wish them the very best of fortune as they go forward as finalists to the British Security Awards Ceremony in July.”

The BSIA members who have regional winners (in the following personnel categories) are VSG (Best Team, Best Newcomer, Best Use of Technology, Outstanding Act), Securitas UK (Best Newcomer, Outstanding Act, Service to the Customer), Westgrove Group (Best Newcomer, Best Team, Outstanding Act, Service to the Customer), Mitie (Best Team, Outstanding Act), MAN Commercial Protection (Outstanding Act, Service to the Customer), Robinson Services (Best Team, Service to the Customer), OCS Group UK (Best Team), SecuriGroup (Service to the Customer) and Sword Security (Outstanding Act).
