Axis Group wins three-year security services contract at Houndshill Shopping Centre

Axis Group – one of the UK’s fastest-growing security, cleaning, Front of House and support services organisations – has been awarded a three-year contract to deliver security and cleaning services at Houndshill Shopping Centre, Blackpool’s premier shopping destination.

The contract includes a total of 20 security officers and cleaning operatives, with all employees transferring to the Axis Group under the TUPE Regulations in a mobilisation period of just five weeks.

Axis Group’s training is also designed to support Houndshill Shopping Centre’s ongoing commitment to excellent customer service and its status as a WorldHost-recognised destination. Axis Group will continue to develop all cleaning operatives and security officers as ambassadors of the location. This will be complemented by Axis Group’s membership of the Institute of Customer Service.

To improve communication and management information at Houndshill Shopping Centre, the Axis Group will be introducing the latest auditing system from Overtec. This solution has been designed to improve traceability and auditing while also addressing the major causes of ‘slip, trip and fall’ accidents, incidents and claims. The system allows all cleaning activities on site to be tracked, significantly improving cleaning efficiencies and ensuring that, in the event of an accident, all necessary information is immediately available.

Competitive tender process

Axis Group was awarded the contract following a competitive tender as the company had provided the best offer in terms of service delivery and commitment to customer service.

Mark Hickey, deputy manager at Houndshill Shopping Centre, told Risk UK: “Axis Group demonstrated a clear understanding of the requirements set out in our tender. Not only did the business provide the best operational solution, but Axis was also deemed to be a good cultural fit.”

Houndshill Shopping Centre is located in the very heart of Blackpool and enjoys an annual footfall of over ten million customers. All businesses in the town form part of the Blackpool Tourism Academy which was formed with the aim of achieving the WorldHost destination status and delivering continuously excellent customer service.
